PIANO MOVING FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Find information about quotes, stairs, scheduling, building requirements, and service areas. Contact us if your move requires an individual assessment.
Where do you move pianos?+
We work mainly in Manhattan and serve all five NYC boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, and other New York locations. We also consider moves to New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and further destinations by arrangement.
What determines the cost?+
Piano type and size, the distance between locations, stairs and landings, tight turns, elevator access, parking, and the timing of your move. We review your details before quoting; there is no one-size-fits-all price.
Do I need to know the model or exact size?+
No. Choose the closest piano type or “Not sure.” A photo or a model label helps us identify the instrument, and you can share more details later.
Can you move a piano up or down stairs?+
Stair moves are reviewed individually. Photos of the full staircase, landings, turns, entrances, and final room help us assess the route before we confirm what is possible.
What photos are useful?+
A full view of the piano, its model label if visible, both building entrances, any stairs or tight corners, and the spot where it will go. Photos are optional when you first request a quote.
Does a quote request book my move?+
No. We review your information, discuss the price and access, and confirm the date with you directly. Submitting the form does not reserve a date or take a payment.
How far in advance should I get in touch?+
Reach out when you know your route and an approximate date. If timing is flexible, include a date range. Availability is confirmed directly; short-notice moves are considered case by case.
What if my building has moving requirements?+
Share the building’s moving hours, elevator reservations, loading instructions, and any required paperwork before booking. We’ll review the requirements with you as part of planning.
Do you move Steinway, Yamaha, and Kawai pianos?+
Our team has experience handling these makes. Tell us the specific model, approximate size, and access at both locations so we can assess your instrument and route.
Can I request a move outside your usual area?+
Yes. We have experience with routes as far as Florida, Atlanta, and Ohio. Send us both locations and your preferred timing; other destinations are considered individually, subject to availability and a route-specific quote.
Do I have to complete every section of the quote form?+
No. The required information is your pickup and delivery locations, name, and a phone number or email. Access details, photos, and timing are optional when you first contact us.
How should I prepare before moving day?+
Confirm building access, elevator reservations, and contacts at both locations. Clear personal items from around the piano and make the agreed route accessible. Leave piano preparation and handling to be discussed with the moving team.
What if I am buying a piano from someone else?+
Provide the seller’s location, a pickup contact, the piano type if known, and the destination. Ask the seller for photos of the piano and the access route so the move can be assessed.
Can I change my requested date?+
Contact us to discuss the new date as soon as possible. Availability and any effect on the quote must be reviewed before the revised move is confirmed.
